GM Recalls 40,000 Chevrolet Blazer EV Vehicles for Brake Problem

General Motors (GM) is recalling over 40,000 electric Chevrolet Blazer SUVs due to a brake defect that could increase the risk of a crash.

According to a recall notice from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, GM reported that the wiring harness for the rear parking brake in certain SUVs could become damaged or corroded, potentially causing the brake to activate unintentionally or fail to operate.

The recall impacts 40,233 of the electric SUVs.

GM reports that four customers said they either received “service parking brake” warnings or were unable to shift out of park when trying to drive.

Summary: General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV vehicles. The rear parking brake wiring harness may become damaged or corroded, resulting in unintended activation of the parking brake or loss of the parking brake function.

Recall Remedy: Dealers will inspect the harness and, if necessary, reroute the harness and install anti-abrasive tape. Any harness that has existing damage will be replaced.
