Ford has announced a recall of 1.9 million vehicles worldwide over defective rear-view cameras, marking the latest in a string of similar safety actions.
Ford stated in a filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the recall affects certain 2015–2019 models—including the Lincoln MKC, Lincoln Navigator, Mustang, F-250 through F-550 trucks, Expedition, Edge, Transit, Transit Connect, Econoline, and Ranger—due to rearview cameras that may show inverted, distorted, or blank images.
The recall affects roughly 1.45 million vehicles in the United States, 122,000 in Canada, and about 300,000 in other international markets.
Ford reported 44,123 warranty claims tied to the recall worldwide, along with 18 related accidents, though no injuries have been documented.
Dealers will inspect the vehicles and replace cameras as needed, according to the U.S. auto safety regulator. In April, Ford also recalled 160,000 vehicles from the 2015 model year due to rear camera failures.
