- Mopar tow trailer modules
Chrysler launched an internal investigation in August 2025 after receiving multiple reports of trailer brake and lighting failures. While no crashes or injuries have been reported, FCA documented significant customer concerns, including 108 customer assistance records, 107 warranty claims, 101 field reports, and 285 repair orders.
According to two notices filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on February 2, the recall affects 456,287 vehicles and an additional 2,871 trailer tow modules.
NHTSA reports that the recalled vehicles are equipped with improperly designed modules that may malfunction.
These defective modules can cause trailer brake lights to fail to illuminate and, in some cases, prevent trailer brakes from working altogether. As a result, driver visibility and braking performance may be reduced, increasing the risk of accidents.
Drivers may become aware of the issue if the trailer’s turn signals fail to flash, the brake lights do not illuminate, or the trailer brakes stop functioning properly.
FCA dealerships will inspect and replace defective trailer tow modules at no cost to owners. Recall notification letters are scheduled to be mailed between March 24 and April 3, 2026.
