Mitsubishi Transmission Defect

Consumers with certain Mitsubishi vehicle models are experiencing issues with their vehicle’s continuously variable transmission (CVT). These defective CVTs are reportedly causing vehicles to shudder, surge, jerk, and delay or fail when accelerating. Additionally, when a driver either accelerates or decelerates at low speeds, a hard deceleration or “clunk” may occur. Other issues relating to this CVT defect include vehicles emitting a loud whining sound once a driver has achieved speed. The defect itself, which ultimately leads to catastrophic transmission failure, is caused by a slippage of the CVT belt and contamination of the CVT’s hydraulic pressure circuit, along with other internal components.

GM Transmission Defect

Consumers have been experiencing issues with defective 8L45 and 8L90 transmissions in Chevrolet, GMC, and Cadillac vehicles. These issues, commonly referred to as the “Chevy Shake,” reportedly cause vehicles to hesitate, shudder, jerk, or “hard shift” when the automatic transmission switches gears during acceleration or deceleration. Drivers have said that this shift is sometimes so violet that they feel as if they were hit by another vehicle. GM has allegedly been aware of the issues with the 8-speed transmissions since 2015, which is the year they began releasing Technical Service Bulletins addressing the issues. These TSBs, however, only offered short-term solutions and did not fix the defective part. The most common example of this is “flushing” the transmission.

The issues with the transmission are said to be caused by the hydraulic system putting stress on the gears and wearing them down, causing metal shavings to become trapped inside the transmission and subsequently causing the component to malfunction. The most common complaints regarding GM’s 8-speed transmission are: shaking, shuddering, jerking, transmission failure, hard up and down shifting, sudden deceleration, stalling while driving, excessive oil consumption, and leaking fluid.

Jeep Wrangler Corrosion Issues

Consumers with 2018-2021 Jeep Wranglers and 2020-2021 Gladiators are reportedly suffering from corrosion problems that cause their vehicle’s paint to bubble, flake, peel, blister, and/or rust over time. These paint issues occur on the Jeep vehicle’s doors, tailgates, rear windows and hinges, fenders, and frames. FCA has released several Technical Service Bulletins relating to this issue, but drivers claim that these TSBs do not fix their vehicle’s corrosion.

GM Infotainment System Defect

Consumers with certain 2019 and 2020 model year GM vehicles are experiencing several different issues with their IOR 7-inch radio, such as problems with the display screens suddenly going black, rearview camera problems, and problems with the Bluetooth. One of the issues, which GM issued a TSB for, causes the vehicle’s audio system to suddenly spike to max volume without input to the volume controls. Another issue drivers have experienced is the radio shutting off and restarting after or during a phone call. In addition to this, when receiving a Bluetooth audio call, drivers have said that the ringer will continue to ring for the entirety of the phone call and will not stop ringing until the driver (1) turns off the vehicle’s ignition, (2) opens and closes the door, and (3) reengages the ignition. Another issue drivers have experienced is the reverse camera image remaining on the screen for up to 50 seconds after the vehicle has been put into drive.
